Pregnancy, labour and what comes next isn’t a nine-to-five gig; it’s a plot twist. I’m the doula who shows up with evidence-based calm, a bottomless bag of comfort tricks, and the stubborn belief that you deserve a birth story you actually want to tell.

From the first-trimester jitters to that wild "we’re really doing this" moment, I translate medical jargon into plain English, advocate like a polite bulldozer, and keep partners from panic-googling at 3 a.m. Think of me as your birth playlist—steady, supportive, impossible to ignore.

My name is Julie and I have just retired from 20 years as a Midwife, or Madwife depending on the shift😜 I trained in South Wales in the UK however I originally hail from Bonnie Scotland. I worked in a birth centre in South Wales for 18 months but I have shared my knowledge and experience over the past 17 years throughout Australia mainly on a one to one basis. However, it is time to return to the homeland at the end of July and I cannot wait to begin this next chapter. I have five children, four vaginal including one waterbirth and one section of a prem bubba. We only have one teenager at home therefore I am slightly more sane now😊 Our two diabolical Dachshunds; Dougal and Harry complete our family.

Why did I decide to become a Doula? Well, midwifery was my calling however the most enriching part of this and what I loved more than anything was the support I was able to provide to women and their families throughout pregnancy, labour and into the postpartum period. I do feel that modern midwifery does not always allow for this one to one that women cry out for, this is where I come in. Your midwife and/or obstetrician can provide everything they are trained and skilled at and you can call on me to provide that little bit extra, that ‘je ne sais quoi’ we all need in our lives?
